As various tax-related mail appears in our mailboxes, it’s instructive to reflect on why we carry the burden of our government. For instance, how did Merrill Lynch disburse $15 billion in executive bonuses just before it was taken over by Bank of America last November if BoA truly needed the $20 billion in bailout money it received this morning?
